Caregiver

You are important. A person who is battling cancer needs a support person who will be there to care, ask questions, and be a listening ear. When you are caring for a spouse, family member, or a friend who has cancer, you need support too. You might have questions about how to care for your loved one right now and need to know who you can rely on for accurate information. You can find the resources you need at The Cancer Center at Kishwaukee Community Hospital.

Need a place to go to ask questions and hear from others about their cancer experiences? It is good to talk to others, learn, and share. Various networking groups, classes, and programs are offered here.

For more information, call 815.748.2958.

And frankly, caregiving can be stressful - physically, emotionally and financially. Powerful Tools for Caregivers is an educational program designed to provide you - the caregiver - with the tools needed to take care of yourself.

Green Thumb Therapy

Green Thumb Therapy is program for anyone who has been impacted by cancer. The program gives participants the opportunity to work with others in creating and maintaining garden near The Cancer Center. Gardening is very therapeutic and it can reduce stress and pain, increase physical activity, and instill feelings of hope.
Living Anew

Living Anew is a 6-week program, taught by Paul Vander Sande, LCPC, to help you take control and manage your life to improve your chances of surviving cancer. Each session provides education, group discussion, and clinical hypnosis. Learn stress management skills and cognitive behavioral techniques to minimize anxiety and depression. Caregivers are welcome.
